Here is a list of all those sessions containing musical performances, including the recording and broadcast dates and the songs played. I have every episode of The Lost Lennon Tapes and theres a number of live BBC recordings on that show. Some ended up on the second BBC album. There should be notations here saying what appears on those shows. The Beatles gave us a continuing soundtrack of unparalleled charm and reassurance. As long as they kept on delivering fresh songs along with the morning milk, everything was right in our optimistic world. That the Beatles were woven into the fabric of British life was due in large part to the regularity of their attention to good habits the Christmas messages to fans, the package tours, the visits home to Liverpool families, an honest paying of all the expected dues and in no small measure to the BBC, who provided that unparalleled broadcasting expertise to keep. the nation in touch with the boys through fifty two broadcasts. From 1962 to 1965, the Beatles made 52 appearances on the BBC, recording live-in-the-studio performances of both their official releases and several dozen songs that they never issued on disc. This magnificent two-disc compilation features 56 of these tracks, including 29 covers of early rock, R&B, soul, and pop tunes that never appeared on their official releases, as well as the Lennon-McCartney original I'll Be on My Way, which they gave in 1963 to Billy J. Kramer rather than record it themselves. BBC Radio 2 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles Abbey Road album with RADIO 2 BEATLES, a four-day pop-up DAB radio station. It will feature programmes fronted by Gary Barlow, John Bishop, Martin Freeman, Guy Garvey, Dave Grohl, Giles Martin, Cerys Matthews, Paul Merton and many more hosting shows along with Radio 2 presenters including Zoe Ball, Sara Cox and Jo Whiley, and other huge fans of the Fab Four Broadcasting from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 September from Londons iconic Abbey Road Studios, the station will honour John, Paul, George and Ringo as a group, as individual ar. On 7 March 1962 the Beatles entered a BBC studio for their first session. It was the beginning of a long relationship between the group and BBC radio and was of tremendous importance for their success. These sessions are among the most important documents of the Beatles' music for two main reasons. First of all, the BBC had regulations limiting the number of discs which could be played during the transmissions, so whenever possible the songs were performed live in their studios. The Beatles did not escape this rule, and each number to be broadcast, including their hits, was recorded live.
