Tei Shi is the moniker of New York City-based singersongwriter and producer Valerie Teicher. She released her first EP, Saudade, in 2013 with collaborator and producer Luca who also helped produce Verde. The project introduced her to the world as a skilled and fluid vocalist, the kind who can create waves with nothing but her voice and loops. Born in Buenos Aires to Colombian parents, Teicher's family uprooted and moved to Canada and then she left for music school in Boston. Valerie Teicher Barbosa born 4 October 1989, best known by her stage name Tei Shi, is a Colombian-Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer based in New York City. She released her first singles and music videos in 2013, also performing live for the first time at CMJ. Tei Shi released her debut extended play, Saudade, in November 2013, which Noisey described as a layered masterpiece of melodies. expertly entwined vocal loops, and shivery sonics.
