Best known for their 1970 smash God, Love and Rock & Roll, the duo of drummer David Teegarden and organist Skip Van Winkle Knape first began collaborating in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma during the early 1960s. After meeting while backing local rockabilly singer Gene Crose, the two later reunited in the group Skip and the Blue Tones before going their separate ways, with Knape touring behind singerguitarist Rodney Lay and Teegarden remaining a fixture of the Tulsa club circuit. Their single Everything Is Gonna Be Alright aka Shoes, released the same year, was covered by, among others, The Temptations on their Live At London's Talk of the Town album. The duo occasionally worked with Bob Seger, appearing live at his concert and producing an album with Seger and guitarist Michael Bruce. Teegarden & Van Winkle reunited for another album, Radioactive, in 1997. In 2012, Knape was working and recording with the Stronghold Rockin Blues Quest in Southern California. Their single God, Love and Rock & Roll peaked at 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970. At times they worked with Bob Seger, appearing live at gigs and even producing an album together with Seger and guitarist Michael Bruce Smokin' O. Teegarden later appeared as the drummer in Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band, recording four further albums with Seger. The duo reunited for another album, Radioactive, in 1997. Has been played on.
