Short intro

The Tyranny of Distance is the second album by American rock band Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, released in 2001 by Lookout Records. It was the group's first album as a full band, as their previous album tej leo, Rx, pharmacists had been a solo effort by singerguitarist Ted Leo. The album's title comes from a lyric in the Split Enz song Six Months in a Leaky Boat, which the band later covered twice: first as a Leo solo on the EP Tell Balgeary, Balgury Is Dead in 2003, and again as a full band. Released in 2001, this was Ted Leo's second album, but his first with the Pharmacists. His first album was solo. Pitchfork gave 'Tyranny' an 8. With his premiere release on Lookout Records, Ted Leo makes a significant creative leap forward from the body of his substantial catalog. By fusing the punk and retro-pop elements of his musical history with a noisy affection for '60s blues-rock formulas, The Tyranny of Distance showcases some of Leo's best songwriting to date. 2012 Ted Leo. When I was a young boy I wanted to sail around the world Thats the life for me, living on the sea Spirit of a sailor, circumnavigates the globe The lust of a pioneer, will acknowledge no frontier I remember you by, thunderclap in the sky Lightning flash, tempers flare, round the horn if you dare. Ted Leo And The Pharmacists - The Tyranny Of Distance Album Lyrics. Stove By A Whale Lyrics. Typically overlooked in the indie rock canon, The Tyranny of Distance oozes early 2000s indie from every pore, and also happens to be one of the finest sets of songs from this scene. Though the Pharmacists may be tacked onto the billing, this is Ted Leos show through and through. From his phenomenal, jubilant power pop melodies, to his inimitable acrobatic tenor, to his passionate and always entertaining delivery, the man is a consummate frontman.
