Encore: Tangerine Dream Live is the tenth major release and second live album by the German group Tangerine Dream. It is mostly assembled from various recordings from the band's very successful 1977 U. Tangerine Dream performed Cherokee Lane and Monolight, or some variants thereof, at every concert in 1977. For some reason where these tracks were recorded is some kind of big secret which of course suggests the recordings were faked even if they were not. Funny thing though-I have heard recordings made of TD in Detroit & in Montreal during the bands 1977 North American tour and although they were interesting they fell short of the quality of the material on Encore. Encore - Tangerine Dream Live, 1977 is one of the better concert albums from Tangerine Dream. As with most of their live releases, this disc features all new material. Each of the long-form over 16 minutes pieces has its own set of movements. In effect, it is like listening to four electronic symphonies. This is also one of the strongest TD lineups. The set features Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann on synthesizers, effects and other electronic devices. It is Baumann's last recording with the band.
