After the themes of self-empowerment and self-possession Abbott explored on 2016s Out of the Garden, these lines can at first seem like a bit of a worrisome relapse. Seven years later, her fourth Tancred LP, Nightstand, is her first after parting ways with the band and relocating back to her home state of Maine. While the project began with a collection of relatively restrained, introspective home recordings, she quickly became associated with a more aggressive, '90s-inspired alt-rock sound, if one tempered by bright hooks and melodicism. Ever since Nightstands release, I have been trying to explain my love for indie rock artist Tancreds new album through a review.
