Tammy Lee Grimes January 30, 1934 October 30, 2016 was an American actress and singer. She won two Tony Awards in her career, the first for originating the role of Molly Tobin in the musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown and the second for starring in a 1970 revival of Private Lives as Amanda Prynne. A former husband, Christopher Plummer, and their daughter, actress Amanda Plummer, are also Tony Award winners. The CD is a composite of her two LPs which were both produced in the early 60's, shortly after she had won a Tony in 1961 for The Unsinkable Molly Brown. I first saw Tammy Grimes on Broadway in High Spirits, the musical adaptation of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit. I fell in love with her. I saw her recently at her show at New York's Metropolian Room, and she had that same wonderful twinkle in her eye. The songs on this CD first appeared on two Columbia Records albums in the early 1960's, when Ms. Grimes was in excellent voice.
