All my Rhino TH reissues are so rad, sound perfect on my system, sorry to those who do have problems with theirs though

No issues with my copy plays perfect and is dead quite!!! Burning down the house plays fine guess I got a good copy! Or maybe just have a decent turntable. Record sounds amazing.

There's so much skipping on Burning Down the House! I was too annoyed with the skipping to even listen beyond that point. I know it's not my record player because I tested out a few of my other records and they sound fine...I don't have a suitcase player or anything just an Audio Technica lol. I understand Audio Technicas aren't the highest quality record players either but when my other records play with no problems? I think its fair of me to think there's an issue with the record itself. Pretty disappointed, I got this as a holiday gift too :/

Which model? If it’s the LP60, then it’s your player.

I must have also got lucky as my pressing is a good one. Sounds terrific!

My pressing is perfect - none of the skips people mention. It's very well done actually with clear sound, punchy "fast attack" bass, and excellent dynamic range!

If you have skipping, check if your record player isn't a suitcase or an all-in-one "retro" box

Burning Down the House has a ton of skipping. It seems to be the most messed up track; others sounded mostly fine. Very irritating considering it is one of the best tracks on the album.

I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing this album. There is a lot of skipping during "Burning Down The House." This is my first listen, and so far it seems to be isolated to that track. This seems to be a common manufacturing defect. Otherwise, the album is quiet and sounds great. It's a real shame.Edit: a single skip during "Slippery People" and several skips during "I Get Wild/Wild Gravity." Pretty pissed about this.

This reissue plays flawlessly and is dead quiet. Whenever people complain about skipping I'm always very suspect of a poor quality turntable or at least an incorrectly set up turntable. If you're tonearm is tracking at the correct force and antiskating is set accordingly you shouldn't have a single skip. I've never had a single record skip, old or new, on either of my Technics TT which both have anti skating and I've checked the tracking force with a stylus scale. My feeling is that people bash pressings when it's really their turntable. Pressing issues are more likely to be non-fills and surface noise from manufacturing that could be cleaned.

Agreed. I've been buying records for 40+ years and can remember only two or three that ever had an actual skip, one of which was due to a bad warp at the outer edge. The other, coincidentally enough, was on a copy of Talking Heads' "Little Creatures" (1985), which had a skip on track five. I exchanged it for another copy, which was fine. The reason I remember this was that the record store lady didn't believe me about the skip, and actually played the record in the store to verify it. Which is weird because I just wanted an exchange for a new one, not a refund.

Exactly, I've never had a record skip once in my life. The problem is more evident with especially 180g records on cheap or improper set up turntables as you mentioned.

Spot on. I upgraded my turntable from a cheap-o AudioTechnica and all issues are gone.

Side A is perfect but Side B skips an absurd amount of times. Hoping it's just my rinky dink record player and not consistent with other owners of this press.EDIT (12/27/18): It was indeed my record player. I've since upgraded, and can confidently say this is a flawless repress. However, if you have a cheap, spring loaded tonearm, it will most likely skip.

Not discounting any other reviews here, but mine plays flawlessly and sounds amazing. Just saying

I have several posts out about RHINO pressings. I'll restate:RHINO 180g = GARBAGEDo yourself a favor and ALWAYS seek out an original. You'll thank yourself.

Definitely not always true, as I have Remain In Light on vinyl (pressed in Europe), and it sounds fantastic. And I have a pretty serious table, and am very picky about sound.

I have the same issue. Received my copy today and it skips 4 times on Burning Down The House. Will be returning tomorrow. The search for vintage continues.

My copy skips during Burning Down The House also. Bummer. Otherwise, it sounds fantastic.

I have had mostly excellent experiences with Rhino Reissues in general. This one is certainly an exception to that rule. I bought one at a record store when I was traveling out of state. When I arrived home and played it, I was immediately disappointed as the playback skipped wildly on the opening song - it wouldn't play though. I put it on a different turntable that I keep upstairs and the album skipped in all the same spots. I wrote to Rhino since I won't be returning to the store I got it from for a long time, maybe ever since I live out of town. They responded and sent me another sealed new copy. To my dismay it did the exact same thing. I even put the 1st copy from the store I bought on and I have every reason to believe most if not all of these have this manufacturers defect. Both copies I have skip during "Burning Down The House" in the exact same spots. It's too bad. This is a great album and I have two copies of this reissue that are unlistenable. I recommend getting a vintage copy.

I agree on this reissue. Straight garbage that you can't even listen to. The same story for me, I got a replacement copy that does the same thing.I haven't had any luck with any of the Talking Heads re-issues, all I've purchased have skipping that makes them almost unlistenable.

I unfortunately have had the same experience with this pressing. Skips in the same spot as yours.
