Late in 2004, San Francisco guitaristsongwriter Poopy Lickles became dissatisfied with the limitations of the band he was in and began looking for collaborators to begin a new project. Influences like Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer and Ween were cited for the new band, which would focus on tight instrumentation, melodic songwriting, fun live shows, and no small amount of guitar rock. A Craigslist ad landed bass player Erich Schulz and after much coaxing, a drummer was secured in Poopys co-worker, Dena Gerbrecht. JANK were a three-piece emoindiepop punk band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that were around from 2015 to 2016. Though they only ever put out one EP and one LP as well as a remix album, they've managed to garner quite a bit of attention in their short tenure. This is partially due to vocalistguitarist Matt Diamond being a former member of the excellent Panucci's Pizza, but also in part due to JANK's amazing music on its own. It's pretty tough to nail down their sound, which is a blend of more old school indie rock with the sensibility of more modern emo revival
