Short intro
Paradise Theatre is the tenth album by the rock band Styx, released in January 1981. It was the most successful album by Styx, peaking at 1 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Album Chart in April and May 1981 non-consecutively. Four singles from the album charted on various charts, with two songs reaching the top 10 pop singles chart. The lead single The Best of Times, written by Dennis DeYoung, went to 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Too Much Time on My Hands, written by Tommy Shaw, went to 9 on the. After spending the better part of a decade struggling to achieve their mainstream breakthrough, Styx finally hit the multi-platinum jackpot with a trio of hit records in the late '70s - and then, emboldened by success, they went for broke with an ambitious gamble that paid off with their only No. 1 album to date. To reach the top of the charts, Styx had to endure an arduous uphill climb filled with challenges both inside and outside the band's ranks. We've always been different personalities, guitarist Tommy Shaw told Kerrang in 1981. Paradise Theatre is a concept album by Styx that follows the rise and fall of the Paradise Theatre and its owner. While the story is fictional, the album gets its name and its inspiration from the actual Paradise theatre, which was open from 1928 to 1956 in Chicago. Paradise Theatre Q&A. The last of Styxs four consecutive triple-platinum releases, Paradise Theater was a concept piece based on a fictional, once glorious but now rundown entertainment venue in their home town and also a metaphor for the American dream. On Paradise Theater, their 10th album, Dennis took the creative reins, allowing them to design an impressive stage show around his concept. Paradise Theater CD, Album, RE. A&M Records , A&M Records. Styx's Paradise Theater is loaded with classics such as Rockin' The Paradise, Too Much Time On My Hands, Nothing Ever Goes As Planned and Best Of Times but even the tracks you hardly eve hear are pretty cool. Lonely People and Snowblind are also kick ass tunes. Over all I think this is Styx 2nd best album and a true Classic.
