The band performed for five years before disbanding in 1997. They reunited in 2000 and since 2015, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor lead vocals, guitar, Josh Rand guitar, Christian Martucci guitar, Johny Chow bass and Roy Mayorga drums. Longtime members Joel Ekman drums, percussion and Shawn Economaki bass guitar left the band in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor knew early on he wanted to do something special with their latest disc, and with ' House of Gold & Bones Part 1 ,' the band doesn't disappoint. In fact, this dark tale of a person's inner battles getting over a traumatic relationship break leaves us yearning for more thankfully, there will be a 'Part 2'. The singer says of the disc , It's really a morality play. It's about a person trying to find himself, or herself. The riffs, the lyrics, the grooves and the songs are like Stone Sour times 10. Theres also heavy stuff thats like nothing weve ever done before. Its dark as hell and a complete experience from the first track to the last. A concept album is always a risky proposition, especially in the world of post-grunge, but it feels as if Stone Sour have been invigorated by the possibilities open to them after expanding their sound so much on their previous effort, giving them the confidence to make what is easily their most ambitious record to date
