Stone Coal White is a reissue of an early 1970's funk band on DJ Shadow's Cali-Tex label. It is a collection of the band's singles, not a proper album. The music ranges from great, Curtis Mayfield derived material when I first heard You Know I thought it was a late Impressions demo, to decent funk jams. This has low-fi sound quality, and the collection as a whole is a bit fragmented. With his ex-wife, White Stripes drummer Meg White, the guitarist covered Lynns controversial 1973 hit, Rated X.
