Cured is the fifth solo album from Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. The cover photo was taken by Kim Poor. In 2007, Cured was remastered and re-released on Virgin Records. Prior to recording Cured, Hackett disbanded the group with which he recorded Spectral Mornings and Defector. Only Hackett's brother, John, and keyboardist Nick Magnus remained from that band. That led him after the Defector tour to be exhausted, and recuperated in. Cured - Steve Hackett. Although Steve Hackett had made several albums under his own name since his departure from Genesis, 1981's Cured was the closest thing yet to a true solo Hackett album. Having disbanded the group with whom he's recorded two successful solo albums - Spectral Mornings and Defector - Steve retained only keyboard player Nick Magnus to help out on this effort. Steve Hackett experienced his first studio sessions as guitarist on Quiet World's only album, The Road, in 1970. He achieved fame as a member of the progressive rock band Genesis, with whom he played between 1971 and 1977, when he left to pursue his solo career full time. He released his first solo album, Voyage of the Acolyte, in 1975 while still with Genesis, and has maintained a steady output since.
