Title Format. Focus is a jazz album recorded in 1961, featuring Stan Getz on tenor saxophone with a string orchestra. The album is a suite which was originally commissioned by Getz from composer and arranger Eddie Sauter. Widely regarded as a high point for both men's careers, Getz later described Focus as his favorite among his own records. The pair would next collaborate on their soundtrack to the 1965 film Mickey One. On 12 July 1957, Stan Getz recorded some of his Verve Records album 'The Soft Swing', which included his own composition 'Down Beat'. The album featured Mose Allison on piano and when asked about working with Getz, Allison said: Stan was a great player. I made one album with him and bassist Addison Farmer and drummer Jerry Segal. It was 'The Soft Swing' in 1957. I didn't have to adapt to Stan's style
