Short intro

1000 Forms of Fear is the sixth studio album by Australian singer Sia. It was released on 4 July 2014 by Monkey Puzzle and RCA Records worldwide, and Inertia Records in Australia. Primarily an electropop album, the record also incorporates influences from reggae and hip hop. Lyrically, the record is focused on Sia struggling to deal with drug addiction and bipolar disorder. 1000 Forms of Fear is the sixth studio album by Australian singer and songwriter Sia. It was released globally to digital retailers on July 4, 2014. Following the mildly successful release of her fifth studio album, We Are Born, Sia decided to retire as a recording artist on the aftermath of a suicide attempt that she did not go through. Her comeback single, Titanium, was released in 2012 on popular DJ David Guetta's second album, Nothing But The Beat, along with another single: She Wolf. 1000 Forms of Fear offers the artists most thunderous and frenetic sound to date, employing her powerful voice to punch through layers of tinny electric drums and glitchy synths. Sia teams with The Weeknd and Diplo on Elastic Heart , an uptempo electric ballad that uses a dizzying composition and polished harmonies to showcase both Sias talent as a songwriter and the albums skilful production. 1000 Forms of Fear Sia. Sia Furlers sixth album immediately unveils its kinetic potential with the unreined anthem Chandelier. 1000 Forms of Fear Deluxe Version. This Is Acting Deluxe Version. We Are Born. Pop Rock Dance Electronic Sia. 1000 Forms of Fear is the sixth studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Sia Furler. It was released on 4 July 2014. Lyrically, the record showcases Furler dealing with drug addition and bipolar disorder. In an interview published by NME in February 2015, Furler revealed that the album as a contractual obligation: Basically, I put this out to get out of my publishing deal. I was planning to be a pop song writer for other artists. But my publishing deal was as an artist so I had to put one more album out. I didnt want to get famous so I kept all the songs I wanted and had fun making it. 1000 Forms of Fear is pop music turned into pain, instead of vice versa, like were used to. Sure, weve heard the fame is awful spiel before, but instead of just keeping it in her brusque Billboard op-ed, it seems that Sias let all that misery spill over into her latest album. Shes a recovering alcoholic who readily admits that a 12-step program saved her life. This is all in the Howard Stern interview, if youre the type that lives and dies by hyperlinks. This isnt an album designed to sell anything to anyone - Sia does that for a living when she tosses off Wild Ones without ever looking back. So, these are the songs she couldnt let go of. Sias new album, This Is Acting, is full of these sorts of shrugged-off, unromantic, and decidedly utilitarian creation stories. Theres a would-be Beyoncé ballad Footprints and an Adele single that wasnt Alive theres a song that was written for a character in Pitch Perfect 2 Bird Set Free that was eventually passed over for a different Sia composition Flashlight . As with 1000 Forms of Fear, this album contains hits and misses - but the misses are especially fascinating for what they reveal. Move Your Body, perhaps the most ridiculous song on This Is Acting, is sung entirely - and Sia has admitted this - in a strangely convincing Shakira accent. This sense of hazard recalls her last album, 1000 Forms of Fear, and the one song here that Sia has said she wrote for herself, One Million Bullets, is also reminiscent of that record's moods. Of the darker songs on Acting, it's the one you want on repeat. Watch Sia Perform 'Alive' on 'Ellen' - But Does She Take Off Her Wig. Despite a few highlights, This Is Acting is scattered and forgettable next to the emotional 1000 Forms of Fear. Yes, Sia is upfront that it's more impersonal. It's all part of the concept, but that is no excuse David Bowie's recent death reminded us how theatrical and constructed pop can be without turning glib. On 1000 Forms of Fear, it's clear that her time as a hitmaker for others not only brought her quirks into the mainstream, but also made the songs she kept for herself catchier. To be fair, We Are Born began this transformation its unexpected but winning mix of new wave, synth pop, and R&B brought newfound polish to her highly personal style
