The War Within is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Shadows Fall. The album has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. The War Within is the band's best selling album, and in 2005 made sales history on Century Media Records when it became the labels best selling album of all time. To date, the album retains this status. When The Art of Balance arrived in 2002, Shadows Fall weren't much more than a blip on the metalcore radar, but a well-received spot on the Ozzfest tour, and the fact that the album lived up to what live audiences saw made them one of the rising stars of metal, period, with no need for the -core tag at all. They've grown beyond the confines of the metal-loving hardcore crowd anyway, with more in common now with the classic thrash of Metallica than the metal-tinged hardcore of Coalesce. Shadows do I begin After releasing their debut Somber Eyes to the Sky on Matt Bachand's label Lifeless Records, the band started to gather avid attention, including that of Century Media. After signing to CMR, the band put out the album Of One Blood, featuring new drummer David The Knife Germain. That album sparked a chain reaction that would result in them becoming one of the fastest growing musically and in popularity underground bands of today.
