The Bridgewater, NJ-based hardcore band Shades Apart formed in 1988, comprising singerguitarist Mark V. bassist Kevin Lynch and drummer Ed Brown. After releasing their self-titled debut l read more. Shades Apart's new record, Seeing Things, taps these sources to deliver a modern fusion of pop, punk and new wave. The single from their previous record, a uranium-fueled cover of the synth classic Tainted Love, received loads of commercial radio airplay last year and eventually turned up on MTV. Shades Apart released their debut album in December 1988 on Wishingwell Records, a chiefly straight-edge hardcore label based in California. Two EPs followed: Dude Danger on Sunspot Records and Neon on Skene Records, which caught the ear of Descendents leader Bill Stevenson. Shades Apart is an American alternative rock musical group from Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. They are best known for their US radio hit Valentine, Stranger by the Day and their cover of the hit song Tainted Love. The band formed in 1988, self-releasing an album that year two EPs followed in 1992 and 1993. 1995's full-length, Save It, produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton, resulted in some media exposure due to the success of their cover of Gloria Jones' Tainted Love.
