Short intro

Track listing: A1 Thousand Knives 0:00 A2 Island of Woods 9:36 A3 Grasshoppers 19:24 B1 Das neue Japanische elektronische Volkslied 24:46 B2 Plastic Knives also known as Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto is Ryuichi Sakamoto's first solo album. The album is named after Henri Michaux's description of the feeling of using mescaline in Misérable Miracle. The title track begins with a vocoded Sakamoto reading Jinggang Mountain, a poem written by Mao Zedong during his visit to a well in the Jinggang Mountains in 1965. The song proper is performed in a reggae hymn style, inspired by Herbie Hancock's Speak Like a Child album. The piece. Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives 1978. To favorites 0 Download album. But before it was released, Sakamoto slipped out an album of his own: Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto. Though the record was quickly eclipsed by his bands smash success, this reissue serves to reintroduce the world to an overlooked gem by a now canonical voice. As with all of Sakamotos work, theres no distinction between pop and experimentalism. Nearly a decade into his career as a sideman, Sakamotos musical fluency is in full effect here. Each of Thousand Knives six pieces swerves with a deft touch through complex arrangements, playful voicings, and cheeky key changes.
