Short intro

The Rutles is a soundtrack album to the 1978 telemovie All You Need Is Cash. The album contains 14 of the tongue-in-cheek pastiches of Beatles songs that were featured in the film. The primary creative force of the Rutles' music was Neil Innes, the sole composer and arranger of the songs. Innes had been the seventh member of Monty Python, as well as one of the main artists behind the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band in the late 1960s, who had been featured in the real Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film. The Rutles also known as the Prefab Four were the most influential band in the whole history of music. They consisted of four main members Ron Nasty, Dirk McQuickly, Stig O'Hara, and Barry Wom. Their legend helped defined the 1960s, and will live on after other living legends have died. On January 21st 1959, the Rutles story really began at 43 Egg Lane, Liverpool, where Ron Nasty and Dirk McQuickly first bumped into each other. Ron invited Dirk to help him stand up. The Rutles is the soundtrack album to the film All You Need Is Cash, a mockumentary about the fictional band The Rutles. The original soundtrack and film were released in 1978, with fourteen songs on the original version of the soundtrack. When it was re-released on CD, six additional tracks from the film were added to the running order, bringing the total number of tracks up to twenty.
