Beautiful compositions, I enjoy the way the title track builds in, and the spoken-word throughout is well-thought with fantastic strategy, haunting, as if spoken from beyond, almost as if a disembodied spirit or resurrected being had spoken the words to loved-one from beyond in a visitation. It was nice to include an instrumental of this track as well. The synth pads are gorgeous. The drums are wicked, and the entire CD is mastered very well, without the ear-fatiguing excess compression that is too-common today. Gothic Bells is a track that brings back fond memories as it was recorded at a concert which I had attended back in the late '80s. Vortex is one of the most unique tracks I had ever heard....It is said that Stewart actually did this using a Casio MT-240 and a four track tape machine! That is unheard of today. Elegia is similiar in the way that it was made, but very different in structure and sound, while both tracks are haunting and ethereal, Elegia is darker and moodier....Something that one would hear in a movie soundtrack haunted scene, reminds me of Harold Budd's Lost Cities. Very nice!

Great disc from an innovative label and fascinating and often under-rated artist.

The title track is haunting, and the words, while shrouded in gothic darkness, have a mystical feel, and the sound has a sense of urgency that drives the track forward. "Gothic Bells" has this uplifting energy to it, you can just feel the excitement building with the crowd's reaction, the layers of synth drones, pads and bells are driven with power from the drums. A fantastic live track, represents the late 1980s with force.

Vortex, with it's abstract style, draws the listener in with an entrancing quality, then suddenly snaps into trippy backwards sounds toward the end...Experimental music like this always fascinates me.

Elegia, has a mellow and ambient chill to it, very haunting, one of my fave classic tracks from this artist...

Also, including an instrumental of the title cut is a nice touch. A disc I am happy to have in my collection, worth every penny.
