Short intro

Romica Puceanu was the leading Romanian Lautari, or Gypsy, vocalist of her day, shining brightest in the 1960s as she sang the music of the mahala, or ghetto. With a gorgeous sense of emotion and control to her voice, it's easy to understand how she was able to move audiences, whether on the slow, aching Inima Suparacioasa or the faster Doi Tovarasi Am La Drum, where she modulates with perfection. Some called her the Eastern Billie Holiday, and it's easy to understand why. ROMICA PUCEANU & GORE BROTHERS - Sounds From A Bygone Age 2 - CD - Import - VG Condition: Very Good. By the age of 14 she was singing in cafes. Later she joined her cousins, the Taraful Fratii Gore - The Gore Brothers - who had already earned themselves a respectable reputation as musicians. Aurel Gore played the violin and Victor divided his time between singing and accordion. They brought other musicians in to add the cymbalom, double bass, cobza lute, and trumpet, when needed. The other musicians are all excellent, although none of them is as singular as the singer. Like Sounds From a Bygone Age Vol. 1, Vol. 2 starts with a cymbalom, here played by Marin Marangros who makes it race like a cartoon mouse. In Gradina cu tufani. Romica Puceanu & The Gore Brothers. Composers: DP. Hora lui Baila. Sa te ajunga dorul meu. Vintule, bataia ta. Pleaca-o neves. Romica Puceanu & the Gore Brothers: Sounds From a Bygone Age: Vol. 2 Puceanu was indeed beloved in Bucharest, and playing her album twice proves she deserved to be. To call her the Gypsy Holiday or Piaf is to diminish her individuality: She's more virtuosic than either without showing off, and less pained whatever the cultural baggage of her appointed repertoire. Led by the two cousins who discovered her, the band is her other half-clean, swift, and economical-with Aurel Gore's violin determining the tone, Victor Gore's accordion dominating the colora. In Gradina Cu Tufani. This album has an average beat per minute of 76 BPM slowestfastest tempos: 7676 BPM. Album starts at BPM, ends at BPM 0, with tempos within the 76-76BPM range.
