Raymond Anthony Phillips born 1 March 1949, Ely, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, South Wales is a Welsh drummer. He is best known as the original drummer for the Welsh rock band Budgie. He left the band in 1974. Phillips formed his own band in the mid-1970s known as Ray Phillips Woman. When former Budgie guitarist Tony Bourge joined the band in the early 1980s, they became known as simply Woman. In 1982 he rejoined Bourge and formed Tredegar. Ray Philip. Play all. He is best known for his work with Badlands, in addition to his stint with Black Sabbath in the mid-1980s and recording most of the vocals on Phenomena's Dream Runner album. Gillen was born on May 12, 1959, in New York, but was raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. He was an only child and started singing while in high school. He played the New Jersey club circuit with various bands, including club bands. When Philip's idol Ike Zimmerman offers his isolated summer home as a refuge, he finally gets the peace and quiet to focus on his favorite subject: himself.
