Short intro

Lark is the second studio album released by British singer songwriter Linda Lewis. It was recorded at Apple studio for Reprise Records and released in 1972. The cover was designed by English art director John Kosh with photography by Peter Howe. In June 2015 Rolling Stone included Lark on their list of 20 R&B Albums Rolling Stone Loved in the 1970s You Never Heard. They describe it as an unusual type of soul music: stripped down, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar and piano, casual, a delight. Ray Off started as a name for Jimmy Currin's onstage collaborations with Ryan Cockburn, aka Spit, and for the solo electro-acoustic gigs he occasionally played at Dunedin's ARC Cafe. It expanded into a slew of different groupings, before settling into a regular quartet, which gave way to a septet, then a quintet. They eschewed the type of free noise experimentation common in Dunedin for a style of active-gentle-repetitive listening, and kept regular weekly rehearsals which often turned into Bacchanalian melees.
