A 50-year-old Ray Charles concert shot on film for television is a very rare find. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, if a musical artist performed on television, it wouldve generally been only a song or two in a variety show format that also featured comedians, ventriloquists, dance troupes and mimes. Artists were rarely captured in a true concert in America, full concerts were virtually never filmed at all due to the limits of commercial television. Fortunately, public broadcasters across Europe didnt require advertising and thus could shoot entire concerts. The tracks were all previously released on 5 different Ray Charles live concert albums released between 1958 and 1975. Disc one: Night Time Is the Right Time Ozzie Cadena, Lew Herman 3:58. Ray Charles was a legendary musician often called the Genius, who pioneered the genre of soul music during the 1950s. This classic 1964 recording by Ray Charles includes 12 vintage tracks performed to perfection. His voice is in great shape, and the recording by Wally Heider is a marvel for its day all the instruments are placed nicely with Charles' voice out front where it belongs. There's a slinky version of Hallelujah I Love Her So, the musicians creating nice little changes behind Charles' soulful nuances. Help improve the Le Grand Concert De Ray Charles page.
