OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017 is a reissue of the 1997 album OK Computer by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was released in June 2017, the album's 20th anniversary, following the acquisition of Radiohead's back catalogue by XL Recordings from EMI in 2016. The album is remastered and includes B-sides released on OK Computer singles, plus three previously unreleased songs: I Promise, Man of War, and Lift. Album 1997 12 Songs. There is, underneath the blanket praise, music too a perfect 1997 statement of pre-millennial angst that sees the singer Thom Yorke being awkward about everything, from trains to politics. Karma Police is the bands last great catchy pop tune, but its lesser known tracks like Let Down that still offer the surprises. So pretty, so sad, so Radiohead. Radiohead OK Computer. Release date: 16th June 1997. The release of their second studio album, The Bends, in 1995 saw Radiohead cracking the top 5 in the UK chart, playing to sold out crowds in the UK and Japan, but still not making an impression on that ever-important US market. The five lads from Oxford Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Phil Selway and Ed OBrien made six promotional trips to America, but still The Bends stalled there at number 88. The pressure on the band was immense and by the time the US tour for The Bends officially began, Yorke had a build-up of fluid in. The bonus material includes familiar B-sides and a few previously unheard recordings that hint at an intriguing road not taken. As they regrouped to figure out what their third album might be, Radiohead faced, if not a crossroads, then an unusually open stretch of road. They had toured with Alanis Morissette in support of their second LP, 1995's The Bends. Its unclear what happened to that album. OK Computer obviously wasnt it. But there has always been a tantalizing alternate-history version of Radioheads third LP lurking behind the finished product
