Short intro
Lovesexy is the tenth studio album by American recording artist Prince. The album was released on May 10, 1988 by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. The album was recorded in just seven weeks, from mid-December 1987 to late January 1988, at Prince's new Paisley Park Studios, and most of the album is a solo effort from Prince, with a few exceptions. The lyrical themes of the record include positivity, self-improvement, spirituality, and God. Album: Lovesexy. From Prince Vault. Jump to: navigation, search. His full live band appeared on No, and some band members appeared in minor roles on Alphabet St. Anna Stesia, Lovesexy and Positivity. The album marks Cat and Boni Boyer's first appearances on a Prince album. A first sequence of the album was done on 21 January 1988. Prince supported the album with a major European, North American and Japanese tour, the Lovesexy Tour, which focused largely on the album while including many songs from Prince's back catalog. The album reached number 11 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums Chart, and number 5 on the Billboard Top Black Albums Chart. This entire set was taken from a LaserDisc rip and has been segued, tweak and remastered by me. I have also added the album title name along with cover art. This has never been released officially and the video sources VHSBetamaxLaserDisc are long out of print. Prince: Lovesexy - Album Review 1988. Welcome to Prince's album of spiritual enlightenment. The cover based on a photo by Jean Baptiste Mondino caused some controversy upon release as it depicts Prince in the nude. Some record stores refused to stock it or wrapped the album in black, ironically, as Lovesexy was issued as a replacement for the hastily withdrawn Black Album, which had a monochrome black cover. With only days remaining before The Black Albums release, Prince experienced a dark night of the soul which he later referred to as Blue Tuesday. On 1 December 1987, Prince gatecrashed the DJ booth of Ruperts nightclub in Minneapolis, wanting to try out a few Black Album tracks with a club crowd. While wandering through the audience, he met a young poet called Ingrid Chavez, who he invited back to his Paisley Park studio.
