Plectrumelectrum is the thirty-sixth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and first and only to feature his backing band 3rdeyegirl. It was released on September 26, 2014 by NPG Records under a renewed license to Warner Bros. Prince released the album Art Official Age simultaneously. Plectrumelectrum is Princes 36th studio album, and was released on September 30, 2014 in tandem with Art Official Age. Its the first and only Prince album to feature his all-female backup group, 3rdeyegirl. 3rdeyegirl was made up of drummer Hannah Welton, guitarist Donna Grantis and bassist Ida Kristine Nielsen. While Art Official Age was an R&B album, Plectrumelectrum was a rock album, laced with Princes noble weirdness and sense of humor, according to the LA Times. Plectrumelectrum Q&A.
