Precious Wilson, whose is from Jamaica, raised in England and the United States, joined the Silent Eruption, a British PopDisco band, which later became Eru. Farian produced Wilson's debut album in 1981, On The Race Track, and the singles 'If I Loved You Less' and 'I Need You' in 1985. Her single 'I'll Be Your Friend' did well on the US R&B charts. Precious Wilson was born 18 October 1957 in Spanish Town, Jamaica. She spent her childhood in England, later moving to Connecticut. She sang gospel extensively as a teen before returning to England. Precious Wilson started out as a backing singer for the all-male group Eruption. The group enjoyed their first minor success when they won a talent competition in 1975, and then went on to record the song Let Me Take You Back in Time. Her third album Funky Fingers, consisting of two side-long medleys of soul standards, was released in December 1983. The following year Wilson released several singles I'll Be Your Friend a U.
