The Piano Concerto No. 4 in E major is in a more Beethovenian vein the nearly 15-minute opening movement covers a lot of harmonic territory and takes unusual routes to do so. Shelley, conducting the Tasmanian Symphony himself, has by now developed strong instincts for bringing out what's distinctive in unknown music, and he does so here.
