Just Like This is a studio album of previously unreleased material recorded in November and December 1976 by Mick Ronson. It was supposed to become Ronson's third solo album after Slaughter on 10th Avenue 1974 and Play Don't Worry 1975, but due to low selling amounts of these albums, record company RCA refused to release this third album in 1977. Just Like This was finally released six years after Ronson's death 1993, on 15 March 1999, by New Millennium Music Burning Airlines label. Just Like This Instrumental Acid Mix. The stab riff and acid bassline present on this production are either inspired, ripped-off or based on the acid bassline found on The Sweat Boyz - Do You Wanna Jack from Chicago.
My comment was a passing statement for anyone who might stumble across this release page and might not be aware of the similarity between The Sweat Boyz version and the PLB System version. My preference of either is not implied or expressed. Nothing more nothing less. As far as 101's cover version of Rock To The Beat is concerned. That's arguable. Many people prefer the original Kevin Saunderson version, others the remixes by his American peers. Others prefer the 101 cover version. Personally, I like both. The Wing Records remix on the U.S. label is a bit too cheesy and mainstream sounding for my preferences though. The one with ''Jade 4 U's?'' rap. I think the 101 version as a whole of Rock To The Beat, probably had a wider release, airplay and TV play, which also helped its popularity further. Let's get one thing straight though. Many Belgian new beat versions of U.S. tracks are atrocious. Neon's Sexuality is just one example of tackiness. Conversely, Neon's (Voices Remix) cover of Chicago classic Master C & J's 'Dub Love' (1986) is an absolute beast! Both in its original from 1988 and the 1992 Remixes. As far as this release is concerned, it's all about the Instrumental Acid Mix.
In some cases, they gained more popularity than the original track... for example 'Rock To The Beat' by 101
Off course it was, and they never made a secret of it... most of the New Beat tracks were rip offs, adjusted to the Belgian New Beat standards of those days
