Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd is the fourth compilation album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 5 November 2001 by EMI internationally and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. It debuted at 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart on 24 November 2001, with sales of 214,650 copies. It remained on the chart for 26 weeks. The album was certified Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum on 6 December 2001 in the US by the RIAA. It was certified Triple Platinum in the US on 8 January. Being the quintessential album rock band, Pink Floyd hasn't had much luck with best-of and greatest-hits compilations, like A Collection of Great Dance Songs and the bizarro follow-up, Works. Since both of those were released in the early '80s and time travel being unavailable even to Pink Floyd, they obviously left out any tracks from the post-Roger Waters era albums. The 2001 release Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd does just that, sequencing the tracks non-chronologically in an effort to place more emphasis on the individual songs as opposed to the era they're from. It seems as if the track sequences of individual Floyd albums have been incorporated into my brain on a molecular level. So, it can be imagined that I had some trouble with this 2CD set - even though I regard it as one of the best Pink Floyd compilations out there. I agreed with all the choices included in this Album as the best of the best. I especially liked the new remix of Echoes, an early Floyd song The guitar level was increased creating a much better song in the Floyd Library.
