This sound piece (sound collage, sound art work, found sound work) uses materials recorded in Stanley Bay, Hong Kong in 1978; Hungary in 1985; and on various trains - to and from Hartford Connecticut, and from Stockholm to Copenhagen. The piece was constructed in the ProTools environment using a Macintosh computer. It's not microtonal. It's not music, it's certainly not "my" music, it has noting to do with the music talked about in this interview, or the rather monolithic body of music which is my historic (hysterical?) work.

Why include it as a CD to accompagny this article? Well, it xas ready when we did the interview. It is made up of material that I always had the intention to use. It was a good use of ProTools computer sound editing software. It sounds good. It's 59 minutes long. It should be played very LOUD, with a mite of extra bass. If the neighbors complain, and they live two miles away, it's about the right level. - Phill Niblock

"Ghosts And Others" was originally intended to be packaged with issue #22 of N D magazine to coincide with an interview with Phill Niblock conducted in 1998. Some copies were available separately as the magazine didn't come out.
The CD and (updated) interview were eventually included and published in issue no. 4 of FO A RM magazine in 2005.

Phill Niblock born October 2, 1933 in Anderson, Indiana is an American composer, filmmaker, videographer, and director of Experimental Intermedia, a foundation for avant-garde music based in New York with a parallel branch in Ghent, Belgium. After an early period studying economics BA, Indiana University, 1956 Niblock came to New York in 1958. Initially he worked as a photographer and filmmaker. He shot portraits of many leading personalities in New York's jazz and avant-garde art circles in the early 1960s, ranging from Duke Ellington and Sun Ra to John Cage and Yoko Ono. Inspired by Morton Feldman's pieces containing extremely drawn-out notes, as well as by other music, he began to make music himself, and became part of the scene around the Sonic Arts Union Gordon Mumma, Alvin Lucier, and others.
