Short intro

Ein deutsches album is Peters German language version of his third self-titled album. It was released shortly after the English language version, in June 1980. Peter worked carefully with Horst Königstein to make sure the German language lyrics were more than simple translations from the originals. The language not only conveys the meaning and intended imagery of each song but also allows the words to contribute to the musicality of the record. There are some significant musical differences between this release and the English original too with Peter experimenting further in the role of sole. Peter Gabriel is the fourth eponymous album released by English rock musician Peter Gabriel in the United States, the album was originally released under the title Security. A German-language version, entitled Deutsches Album German Album, was also released. The songs on the album cover a wide variety of subject matter. The Rhythm of the Heat is based on Carl Jung's experience while observing a group of African drummers. San Jacinto reflects on the fear and pain experienced by a Native American. In lyrics and mixing, the album is noticeably different from the international release. The running order of Deutsches Album is slightly different from its parent, as San Jacinto is transposed with The Family and the Fishing Net here, Das Fischernetz .
