Short intro

Concrete is a live album by the British band Pet Shop Boys. It was released on 23 October 2006. Due to be called Concert, on 20 September 2006, Pet Shop Boys announced that the album was going to be called Concrete, which was the title that they originally wanted for the album. It is the first live concert to be released by the band on Audio CD. The performance recorded for the album took place at the Mermaid Theatre on 8 May 2006, as an exclusive for broadcast on BBC Radio 2's Sold on Song programme. Still, for fans, Concrete must exist since it captures the duo's May 2006 appearance at London's Mermaid Theater, an invite-only affair with the BBC Concert Orchestra as backing band. The song selection doesn't read like a greatest-hits compilation because save It's a Sin and West End Girls, everything here was originally recorded with various sized orchestras. Concrete is the seventeenth album by the British band Pet Shop Boys. Pet Shop Boys first live album dates from 2006 and was initially transmitted with four songs missing as a special BBC Radio 2 In Concert performance to celebrate 25 years since their formation in 1981 in the business. Featuring the BBC Concert Orchestra throughout that choice informed much of the track selection, mainly revisiting orchestral tracks such as Left To My Own Devices, which kicks off proceedings or frames others like West End Girls and It's A Sin in an entirely new setting.
