A strictly traditional flamenco record, Pepe Romero's 1987 recording Flamenco features not only his own sterling guitar work, but also singer Chano Lobato's expressive vocals and, in an inspired touch that not enough flamenco artists have thought of, two genuine flamenco dancers, Maria Magdalena and Paco Romero. Flamenco, after all, is dance music, and as in some forms of English contra dancing, Appalachian clog dancing, and other forms of folk music, the percussive sound of the dancers' shoes and the female dancer's traditional castanets is intended as part of the music. Pepe Romero born March 8, 1944, in Málaga, Spain is a classical and flamenco guitarist. He is particularly noted for his outstanding technique and colorful musical interpretations on the instrument. Pepe Romero was born in Spain, the second son of celebrated guitarist and composer Celedonio Romero, who was his only guitar teacher. Flamenco, 1995. Fiesta en Jerez, 09:05. Farruca y Rumba, 05:50. I'm no specialist of the Flamenco guitar - I bought the CD out of a collector's interest for the label, Mercury -, so this is a layman's opinion. Very enjoyable music and disc, TT 63:48, recordings made in April 1962 and they sound great, with exceptional care given to the transfers, I don't hear any tape hiss even in the soft passages
