Short intro
Tongue - Houston, Penelope. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Tongue - Penelope Houston. Penelope Houston born December 17, 1958 is an American singer-songwriter best known as the singer for the San Francisco-based punk rock band the Avengers. She was raised in Seattle. In the mid-1970s she attended Fairhaven College in Bellingham, Washington. In 1977, Houston moved to San Francisco, attended the San Francisco Art Institute, and shortly after became the lead singer and songwriter for the Avengers. That band released one album, their eponymous debut in 1983. Penelope Houston was the singer for San Francisco's The Avengers, possibly the first true west coast punk band. Her solo career, which proceeded in fits and starts through the decades following that band's 1978 breakup, could only barely be further from punk. Starting from a folk-rock influence-her earliest records were all-acoustic and often solo-but adding adult-pop influences, Houston's solo work steers a middle ground between the directness of Ani DiFranco and the sophisticated cool of Aimee Mann, but her songwriting is a bit quirkier and more convoluted than either.
