Short intro

Off the Ground is the ninth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in 1993. As his first studio album of the 1990s, it is also the follow-up to the well received Flowers in the Dirt 1989. After planning another world tour, The New World Tour, in 1993, to promote the album, McCartney chose to record Off the Ground with his touring band. Blair Cunningham joined on drums to replace Chris Whitten, who left to join Dire Straits. As with that album, Off The Ground featured some collaborations with Elvis Costello, in Mistress And Maid and The Lovers That Never Were. In fact, all the lyrics were given a thorough test, as Paul recalled at the time. Pauls first studio album of the 1990 came four years after the critically and commercially successful Flowers In The Dirt. Track 1. Off the Ground Track 2. Looking for Changes Track 3. After planning another world tour simply entitled The New World Tour in 1993 to promote the album, McCartney opted to record Off the Ground with his touring band. Blair Cunningham joined on drums to replace Chris Whitten, who departed to join Dire Straits. Given the tour's enthusiastic reception, McCartney could wait until 1993 to deliver the album's proper sequel, Off the Ground. Though it isn't as consciously ambitious, Off the Ground certainly picks up where Flowers left off, as McCartney feels no shame in making an album that doesn't aim for the charts though success would certainly be welcomed, yet is still classy, professional, and ambitious. Theres a flinty edge to the two ornate waltzes Mistress and Maid, The Lovers That Never Were left over from his songwriting collaboration with Elvis Costello. Looking for Changes is an uncharacteristically angry critique of animal cruelty, while McCartney regains his lightness of touch on the breezy Hope of De
