Short intro
Showcase is a studio album by American country music singer Patsy Cline, recorded with The Jordanaires and released November 27, 1961. It was Cline's second studio album and her first since Patsy Cline in 1957. The album produced two singles that became hits on both the Billboard country and pop charts. The first, I Fall to Pieces, became Cline's first number one hit on the Billboard country chart and also reached the Top 15 on the pop Top 100 in 1961. The follow-up single, Crazy, was nearly as. With Elvis Presley's famed back up singers the Jordanaires, such legendary hits as I Fall to Pieces, Crazy and Walkin' after Midnight soar like church hymns. But honky-tonk classics like Foolin' Round and San Antonio Rose display equal merit. Eric Shea. About This Album. Accompanied By The Jordanaires. Producer Owen Bradley. 1988 MCA Records, Inc. Country queen Patsy Cline missed the US album chart with her first, self-titled 1957 release, even though it contained her No. 2 country hit of that year, Walkin After Midnight. Despite some EP releases and then the resumption of her hit career in 1961, she didnt release a second album until towards the end of that year. Then on 31 March 1962, that disc, Patsy Cline Showcase, finally gave her a presence on the album chart. Listen to Patsy Cline Showcase right now. A further connection with the King was added by the presence in the sessions of Presleys piano player, Floyd Cramer. The Showcase album went on to peak at No. 73 in a total of 21 weeks on the American chart. My aunt had a vinyl copy that she loved, and my cousins and I would play it as loud as we could while we cleaned house and did dishes. These versions are her best recordings of these songs, because you will find other versions on other albums.
