Orbital is at the top of their game when they inject multiple tempo changes and compelling samples into their lush techno creations. Diversions contains few such transcendental moments. Comprised mostly of remixes by the band and guests C. Bolland, Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia, and Underworld of songs from Orbital 2, the EP stretches out with little variation over the course of an hour. Orbital 2, though comprised of perhaps too much studio trickery, presented itself as a compelling, cohesive al. Orbital, commonly known as the Green Album despite the fact that the cover is yellow, or Orbital 1, is the debut studio album by English electronic music duo Orbital, released on 30 September 1991 by FFRR Records. The alternate title comes from the fact that Orbital made both of their first 2 albums self-titled, forcing fans to call it something else to distinguish it from the 2nd album. it is called the Green Album due to a color misprint with the first vinyl pressing. Orbital's Diversions was released shortly after the Brown Album, and it is far superior. There's another version of Impact USA here, and the added synths and smart beats are gloriously programmed. The track runs over 11 minutes and I'm thankful for that. I can't say enough about Diversions. Thanks to the Saint theme song I decided to buy an Orbital CD and through pure serendipity chose Diversions. It was one of the best decisions I've made. Diversions, I think is Orbital's best work. Each track takes you through a little mini-journey, orchestrating it perfectly. It takes you up, takes you down. All smoothly, all with a perfect blending of electronic sounds
