Oliver Ganz - Phases Of Death Album

Do NOT be put off by the title of this Cd as it is a very interesting listen. As, studio308, explains it. Time will vanish and you will be at the last track before you realise it. Gets better with repeated listens.

The CD was produced in 2003 and appeared in the trade for the first time in fall of 2003, because this season matches the atmosphere of the CD particularly well. The CD deals musically with a very important time period in our lives or said more exactly the moment when our life ends.

There are many fantasies and reports about dying or the possibility of life after death or the death itself. Unfortunately, only very little scientific literature can be found about that theme. I wouldn't like neither to change nor criticize this here.

The CD on hand makes (my) pure musically imagination about the moment between cardiac arrest and definite cerebral death. Everybody may start his own phantasy to this and the imagination shall be proposed absolutely. Nevertheless the CD has a main thread, a story which is told because without that it wouldn't work.

This is the history/past history:
First imagine a man who has left the house after a quarrel with his girlfriend. Of course a thunderstorm starts exactly at this moment but, he never notices this, so much he is in thought. He is mistaken by the rain for hours and wonders how he could settle the discussion. Suddenly his mobile phone rings, it is his girlfriend. On the telephone they talk to each other and everything puts right, so he decides to sweep home immediately. On the way home a lightning hits the man, overleaf passers-by call an emergency doctor.

This is the moment the CD "Phases of Death" starts, Phase 1, Track 01
The admission to the next hospital, casualty unit. During the drive there was an at first successful Reanimation in the ambulance after a cardiac arrest, which must be repeated now in the hospital. It fails, the heart doesn't start beating any more. There are reports of people who were fetched back anyway again already on it. E.g. they tell that they had the impression to float about themselves and to watch the event. They even partly knew the words spoken by the emergency doctors.

Phase 2 - Track 2, 3, 4
Our patient realized that he is dead. The last minutes of his rain walk are inwardly passing once again in front of his eyes. Many memories come up because the brain still has rest oxygen and initially continues to work at maximum power. About this Phase of near-death People report that their whole life is past going on in a kind of time-lapse photography at them. If you let yourself be inspired by the music of these 3 songs, stop a moment and think: If it happens to you now: What would well run at your inner eye past?

Phase 3 - Track 5-8
Now the oxygen deficiency is doing its cruel work. The neurons of the brain start with flicker, thoughts unchecked shooting around. More and more brain cells die at the oxygen deficiency, less and less thoughts find their aim. The brain forgets, only some very few intensive thoughts form themselves to something just still understandable for a definitive last time. Think: How would it be if you will have to watch how all your thoughts and memories, no matter whether beautiful or ugly, mix, divided into incomplete fragments, and slowly but for certain disappear? Let yourself be inspired by the music.

Phase 4 - Track 9
Is the phase in which patients with seam or living nits report to go through a long tunnel, always toward a bright light which they see at the end of the tunnel. Perhaps it is also the moment, in which the dying person starts not to hold on for life, but gets ready the first time to join his fortune. Our Man reaches the light at the end of the tunnel. Shortly before everything dissolves into trifle, a very last, short, intensive memory forms itself to a brief thought once again. It is exactly this thought which lets him go quietly in the light now while the music finally is dissolving into nothing in endless, always far remote, always diffuse echoes, too. The brain is inactive now.

Track 10
For me the CD comes to an end here because the time period which I described at the beginning is over. You will remembers that it was only a few minutes or perhaps only seconds because the thunderstorm at the end of the CD is the same as from the beginning.

Other people may think differently here. Many religions always promise a new existence form, a life after the death, a rebirth, resurrection or what ever after death. It's often hand down, that the soul of the deceased Person goes onto a long journey to wherever. I respect this and therefore on my CD i don't stipulate what happens next. Whatever it is, it is considered worthwhile and religious people are happy till this new phase of their existence. The emergence moment of this new existing form is often described as something very solemn. Not to hurt the faith and the feelings of all these people i wrote a 10th Track. everybody may decide in favor of himself in accordance with his own faith what happens here.
