Origin: North Rhine-WestphaliaBavaria Germany. Formed in autumn 2001 by Malfeitor and Winterheart. Underground German blackmetal meaning The Death-Persuader was the nickname given to Hegesias of Cyrene, an ancient Greek philosopher. He is most known for his extremely pessimistic worldview, which culminated in his most prominent work entitled Death by Starvation. Peisithanatos is the second and final album by the German black metal band Nyktalgia, released in 2008. The title is Greek for Death-Persuader written in Greek as πεισιθάνατος and was used in reference to the philosopher Hegesias of Cyrene, who argued in his surviving writings that while happiness would ideally be the goal of life, it was unattainable and thus the best a person could hope for was the avoidance of pain and suffering. Peisithanatos is still very much guitar based, but unlike the first where the riffs were edgy and harsh, this album changes gears completely and strives to make beauty the focus of the guitars. This becomes clear in the first track which is surprisingly melodic making the album relatively accessible.
