Une sortie un peu particulière pour le très prolifique projet Nepa Ios, qui n’est désormais plus un one-man-band : Mastanabal se joint aux malversations sonores d’Oxynthia pour encore plus d’extrémisme sonore… Cela ne présage rien de bon pour nos tympans. Mais que ces tympans se rassurent, ils n’en auront que pour quelques minutes à supporter, cette fois. Trois morceaux, six minutes, Nepa Ios prend le pari du condensé de bruitisme.

Lost Memories, pour entamer avec une note oppressante. Pulsations electro répétitives sur lesquelles se greffent des voix indiscernables mais inquiétantes et divers bruits organiques que personne n’aimerait entendre dans son jardin. Une entité en colère forcerait-t-elle la porte de notre réalité ?

Les hurlements se font plus plaintifs sur le morceau principal, Aenigma. Une ambiance mystique assez uniforme, sans trop de jeux techniques, apaise la tension presque physique du premier titre, même si une certaine intensité monte des plaintes aux bris de verre, avec quelques mots que l’on pourrait presque discerner et un leitmotiv dans les nappes sifflantes.

Nouvel éveil sur Below… Pour finir sur une nette impression d’inachevé, toutefois. Les dernier sons de ce titre voient presque naître un rythme, une progression, mais sont abruptement coupés alors que les voix commencent à s’organiser par-dessus le bruit ambiant, et à s’enraciner dans nos esprits.

En définitive, un MCD honnète pour célébrer l’élargissement de la formation, qui montre ce que le nouveau membre pourrait apporter au projet, et nous laisse cruellement sur notre faim. Une diversité naissante que l’on voudrait voir décliner en longueur, et surtout en profondeur.
