According to the official release dates of PETER FROHMADER's albums, this live has been recorded before the subsequent NEKROPOLIS studio albums. Also, the track titles in this album do not match with any of the track titles that appear in the studio releases, so I will assume that these are compositions recorded for the first time . The music in the album matches perfectly with the title NEKROPOLIS. In The Awakening, FROHMAEDER's band presents a dark, eclectic set of compositions. The Awakening is a live performance album by Nekropolis, released in 1997 by Ohrwaschl Records. All music is composed by Peter on the original live album, the sound is more brutal than gothic, more savage than brooding - in other words, more immediate than evocative. Indeed, this is a rock band, albeit a progressive one, churning out a sinister, menacing, and manic music that reeks of sinew, viscera, and feral drama. As one expects from anything by Frohmader, the atmosphere is heavy, nearly oppressive, with dark, surly, musky colors and thick, hefty textures. The impact is similar to that of live King Crimson of the mid-70s, though Nekropolis is not as fiery and virtuosic.
