Short intro

Nada Surf is an American alternative rock band which currently consists of Matthew Caws guitar, vocals, Ira Elliot drums, Daniel Lorca bass, backing vocals. Based in New York City and formed in the 1990s, Nada Surf continues to tour. Their ninth album, Never Not Together, was released on February 7, 2020. In 1992, the band was formed by Matthew Caws and Daniel Lorca. The original band name was Helicopter but later changed to Nada Surf, which Caws said is actually referring to something much. The Proximity Effect is the second album by alternative rock band, Nada Surf. It was released by Elektra Records in Europe on September 22, 1998 and by MarDev Records in North America in August 2000. Frontman Matthew Caws attributed the quality of the album production to the band having been dropped by their label, Elektra Records. Finding no radio-friendly single on this album, Elektra asked the band to write a hit, and had them record covers of other artists, trying to push Why Are You So Mean To Me. Infinite gratitude to the kind and generous band NADA SURF for inviting me along on this extraordinary, endlessly surprising album cover adventure. Its a gift that just keeps on giving.
