Pictures at an Exhibition is a suite of ten pieces plus a recurring, varied Promenade composed for piano by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky in 1874. The suite is Mussorgsky's most famous piano composition, and has become a showpiece for virtuoso pianists. Jacques Rouvier born on January 18, 1947 in Marseille is a French pianist. He studied at the Paris Conservatory with Jean Hubeau, Vlado Perlemuter, and Pierre Sancan. He took two Premiers Prix first prizes: in piano performance 1965 and in chamber music 1967. Rouvier was remarkably successful at piano competitions in his youth. He took first prize at both the Viotti International Music Competition in Vercelli and the Barcelona Competition in 1967.
