Wildlife is the third studio album by the British band Mott the Hoople. The album was originally released in 1971 in the UK by Island Records catalogue number ILPS 9144 and in the US by Atlantic Records cat. SD 8284. Ironically, even if this is a much better record, few songs are as immediately gripping as Walkin' with a Mountain, but both Mick Ralphs and Ian Hunter turn out some fine rockers, while driving the group toward some interesting territory, like the string-drenched Waterlow, the country-tinged It Must Be Love, and the ambling Original Mixed-Up Kid, or even the surprisingly. While that might seem strange for one of Englands most exciting rock n roll bands of the era, Mott was merely revealing its growing admiration for the soul and country music of the American South, especially on Original Mixed Up Kid, It Must Be Love, and Home Is Where I Want to Be. While Mott the Hoople might primarily be remembered as a glam-rock outfit, theyd established themselves as a band long before Bowie and glitter helped give them a second chance. Although this third set could be seen as an extension of the conclusion of Mad Shadows from just five months earlier, this mostly stands in contrast to that album and everything else from this band.
