Short intro

Steven Patrick Morrissey ˈmɒrɪsiː born 22 May 1959, known mononymously as Morrissey, is an English singer, songwriter, and author. He came to prominence as the frontman of the rock band the Smiths, which was active from 1982 to 1987. Since then, he has pursued a successful solo career. Morrissey's music is characterised by his baritone voice and distinctive lyrics with recurring themes of emotional isolation, sexual longing, self-deprecating and black humour, and anti-establishment stances. Seriously, i always liked Morrissey (even if i admit that recent albums are not great...) but what's the point of a release like this one?Oh well, i'll go back to play "Viva Hate" and "Vauxhall And I" on my turntable...

You can choose to buy the US CD on Sire and be robbed of two tracks that appear here. (Yes, the US issue has only ten tracks.)

The LP has Angel, Angel, We Go Down Together- a bonus track from Viva Hate...

The booklet does not mention when and wehere "You're the one for me, fatty" was recorded. For coincidence or not, this track was mixed by Bob Clearmountain the same one who mixed "All the young people must fall in love". I assume "Fatty" was not taken from "Bethoveen was deaf".

Yes, you're totally right. I compared the tracks right after I posted it and I assumed it's BWD.Now and then Morrissey is re-packing his back catalogue at EMI and re-releasing it. Unfourtunately the albums contains only the regular track and never a demo or alt version (except Bona Drag and Viva Hate ressiues). It's only a easy way to our pocket.

The live recording of '..Fatty' here is definitely from Beethoven Was Deaf. The booklet shows 'Other Parlophone releases you may enjoy' including 'Beethoven..', which ironically was deleted from EMI's catalogue in 2010 and so the public may struggle to buy a recently pressed copy (!)For an artist who used to be skilled at putting together indispensable compilations (I.e. Hatful of Hollow, Louder Than Bombs, Bona Drag, even World of Morrissey) almost as well as regular albums of fresh material, this CD has to be one of his most pointless efforts. I have no idea if this was his own idea or the record label's but I suspect the former due to the overwrought 'Regal' branding. It is a shame because his '90s solo years had some fantastic tunes but the ones hawked up here are in an odd running order with little in the way of linkage or flow. The 2014 Lou Reed cover dropped in the middle just disjoints the whole thing even further.

Utterly bizarre choice of scraps from beneath the table of the increasingly laughable has-been. Parlophone seem to be doling out a bunch of industry sweeteners, allotting royalties-as-favours to various chums, cohorts and back-orifice management types. This is record company machination par excellence and has virtually nil to do with any pretence of offering a coherent set of songs in any kind of thought-out sequence. This album serves two purposes: firstly, persuading marginalised Morrissey fans (looked upon now as the deluded Scientologists of the music firmament) to part with yet more cash to further feather the nest of their curdled fuhrer; and secondly, to make the lyrics of The Smiths' "Paint A Vulgar Picture" even more staggeringly prescient.

Not to argue with your points, but the official Morrissey facbook page states that it's chosen by Morrissey himself. Adds a little value to it, imo.
