Cure for Pain is the second album by alternative rock band Morphine, released through Rykodisc in 1993. Jerome Deupree, the band's original drummer, quit due to health problems during the recording of the album and was replaced by Billy Conway. The tracks Sheila and In Spite of Me were prominently featured on the soundtrack of the 1994 independent film Spanking the Monkey. The video for Thursday also appeared on an episode of Beavis and Butt-head. The track Buena also appears in the first. Morphine - Cure For Pain 1993. To favorites 40 Download album. Listen album. With their cult following growing, Morphine expanded their audience even further with their exceptional 1994 sophomore effort, Cure for Pain. Whereas their debut, Good, was intriguing yet not entirely consistent, Cure for Pain more than delivered. The songwriting was stronger and more succinct this time around, while new drummer Billy Conway made his recording debut with the trio replacing Jerome Deupree. Morphine 2. Cure For Pain CD, Album. RCD10262. My favorite album of 1993. This will make just about anyone a huge fan of Morphine and their addictive flavoring in their songs. The best thing here is the consistency unlike Good, Cure For Pain is almost completely solid from start to finish, while simultaneously even more creative than anything they previously recorded. The production is great, and the songs are easily digestible but also complex enough to want to listen to again and again. Play jigsaw puzzles for free Home. Cure for Pain, 1993. Now playing

I just got this release, and have the 2011 Light In The Attic issue to compare. This one sounds MUCH better, hands down. Morphine is a band that puts a huge emphasis on bass (obvs!) and the 2011 version is just too thin on the low end, unfortunately. LITA seem to have paid more attention to the packaging than to the actual music. This one from MOV is quite the opposite-- minimal packaging (OK so the cover image is not too sharp), but the vinyl & mastering is as perfectly executed as I've ever heard. Probably will offload my LITA version now...

The LITA art was also pretty blurry. I don't think art ever existed with the vinyl format in mind with this album. I do remember having to crank the volume knob quite a bit for the LITA press. Is this the same?

i concur. This pressing is great.Apart the cover which looks like a xerox (like most reissues these days), the rest is top notch.

180 gram audiophile vinyl4 Page Insert with lyrics and band photos.Let me tell you folks, this is one of the best sounding releases I have in my collection. The sax and the bass are perfectly highlighted. It feels like this was recorded by an angel and then mastered by a greek demigod with OCD.

Totally! half a year later I stand by every word mate :)Every MOV release I have (Alice in Chains, Morphine and Sade) sounds incredibly crisp and detailed. It is class.

Yes, I agree. This is very good sound. Don't know about the angel and greek demigod but yes, somebody did a great job.
