Morbid Angel is an American death metal band based in Tampa, Florida formed in 1983 by guitarist, primary composer and sole remaining original member Trey Azagthoth, vocalist and bassist Dallas Ward, and drummer Mike Browning. Widely considered as one of the most influential bands in the genre and important in the transition of death metal from its thrash metal roots, they were one of the first bands to incorporate guttural vocals, up-tempo blast beats, multiple tempo changes and dark atmosphere. For some time it was an instrumental band until bass player Dallas Ward began singing, but they wanted a front man so the search was on. Several singers were auditioned, and this demo, recorded in 1985, had local metal vocalist Kenny Bamber and Dallas sharing vocals. Kenny's style did not fit the band so Dallas continued singing. Before Dallas left the band, Richard Brunelle joined the lineup on guitar and also did some vocals at some live shows. Morbid Angel wouldnt visit a recording studio again until 2011, and when they did the controversial results captured on seventh studio album Illud Divinum Insanus unfortunately overshadowed Vincents brief return, casting continued doubt upon the bands future moves.
