It was released on September 15, 2009, through Dine Alone Records in Canada, and through Vagrant Records in the US. Moneen started writing for The World I Want to Leave Behind in early 2008. In March 2008, drummer Peter Krpan announced his departure from the band and was quickly replaced by Steve Nunnaro. Sound like a familiar recipe It should, as seemingly oodles of bands follow the same formula - especially those who find themselves playing on a Warped Tour stage. The Moneen gentlemen have obviously studied their vintage Sunny Day Real Estate recordings, especially on such tracks as Believe, while throwing an early Radiohead-like curvebal. There are a few signs that the more unpredictable side of Moneen is lurking in the background waiting to be unleashed. The incomplete sounding The Monument has an exciting and recitable chorus, Lighters builds up well, while The Long Count contains some suitable guitar histrionics. However, nothing seems to hit the mark perfectly until the very end of the album. That does not necessarily make The World I Want To Leave Behind a sub-par album, just one which is unlikely to win too many new devotees and could disappoint their current fanbase.
